About Us
Thanks to the munificent donation of Late Chivukula Sri Rama Sarma garu the long felt need for starting a college in Ongole was fulfilled. On August 1st 1952, the C.S.R. Sarma College, Ongole came into being. Justice Pattipati Satyanarayana Rao of of the Madras High Court opened the college at a specially got up function. The contribution of Rs.50,000/- by the Ongole Municipality came in handy to complete the ground floor or the main building of the college. Though, the Municipal Council under the Chairmanship of Late Dhara Gopala Sastry passed the original resolution for this contribution in 1952, sanction of the State Government for the same was denied and hence the college could not avail itself of this sum. | |
Later on, in 1955 the Municipal Council, under the Chairmanship of late Thatha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy alias Chinna Kannaiah, again approached the state government by a fresh resolution to accord sanction to the above contribution. At that state Dr. B.Gopala Reddy who was the Chief Minister of the Andhra State, with the support of Ministers Messrs Kalluri Chandramouli, Kala Venkata Rao and Dr.A.B.Nageswara Rao placed the matter before the State Cabinet for reconsideration and obtained their approval for sanctioning the payment to the college of this contribution of Rs.50,000/- in 1956. But for this help on the part of the State Government at that time, the present main building of the college could not have come into being.Later on, in 1955 the Municipal Council, under the Chairmanship of late Thatha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy alias Chinna Kannaiah, again approached the state government by a fresh resolution to accord sanction to the above contribution.
